Nonverbal Communication, in most instances, can convey a clearer message than verbal communication. I enjoyed reading about how girls use a lot of nonverbal communication. While reading about the smile challenge, I thought about how hard that would be, and how people would react to me. I decided to try this theory out… The results were the same; everyone thought I was upset and angry. When in reality I was perfectly content. It is amazing to me how much our facial expressions play into our conversations.
Growing up I never understood why on my report cards it said I was disrespectful towards my teachers. I had thought to myself, I had never had an outburst; I always did what was asked. During a parent teacher conference we asked as to why I was disrespectful… The answer was my “facial expressions.” I had no idea that I was rolling my eyes, or pouting. Since then I have tried to be very careful with my facial expressions.
first off, love the picture! secondly, i think non-verbal communication is such an amazing thing. being able to understand and appropriately act when you read non-verbal is great. i personally use a lot of non-verbal communication because i tend to be a little bit more "feminine" with my communication styles... i love a good eye roll!
